People can be so stupid. Sometimes I try REALLY hard to think for a reason why someone would be so stupid, and I can't for the life of me fathom an answer.
We're in health class on monday. We get this assignment to make a presentation on butcher paper about various mental health elements. I get prejudicial comments. Easy.
Mrs. K knows how I am about working in groups, and lets me do it on my own. (I hate putting a portion of my grade in the hands of others, I hate sitting there waiting for the immature kids to let us get started already, and I hate working on projects with other people in general.) So I make this really nice presentation. I highlight the vocab words, I make bulleted lists, I color code the subjects. I'm so proud of this stupid thing.
So I come in today. All the papers are hanging on the white board and she tells us to find ours, sit down, and get ready to present. I go up to get mine, and mine isn't there. I go back to let Mrs. K know, and she says she'll check the pile of already-presented papers in case she mixed mine up. It was there. I thought she had just mixed them up.
But then she gives me a look and goes "Is that yours?" Uh YEA, my name is clearly written in the corner. (And no one else in ANY period put their name's down.) I pointed my name out to her and she goes "Oh my gosh! Those little sneakers!" ...huh? I ask her about this and she goes "A group from first period didn't make a poster. They saw that you had the same subject as them and used your poster."
My boiling point has NEVER... EVER... been higher.
I could have epxloded RIGHT THERE. I asked her why she didn't notice my name in the FRIKKIN CORNER OF THE PAPER. She said she couldn't see it, but she THOUGHT something seemed fishy.
GOOD THING YOU INVESTIGATED IT THEN, HUH?!
I was calm about it though. I asked her nicely if there was going to be disciplinary action on this. Her answer was very unclear. It was a series of "I don- It 's not for- I didn't notice. I THOUGHT something was up." Mmmhmm. Then, and this kills me, she goes "they thought it was a big joke, you know?"
OH... MY... GOD.
Calling someone else's work your own is plagerism, and plagerism is STEALING. Does that mean I can come into the health classroom and steal your projector? What if I thought it was a "big joke"? Does that make it okay now??
I didn't wanna deal with this crap right now. I sat down and waited for the rest of the presentations. When they were done, she handed out a worksheet. While she did this, I went to the back of the classroom and told her I felt like this had not yet been resolved.
I asked if there would be a grade on these things. Again, she was too vauge about it. I still have no frikken clue if we're getting a grade or not. I was getting frustrated... I, the STUDENT, am trying to explain the severity of this situation to my TEACHER for god's sake, becuase she doesn't seem to understand what's going on here.
She said she should talk to one of hr collegues about it, and how she should doc them points.
DOC THEM?!?!?!?!
It clearly states in ever bloody class sylubus OVER AND OVER TILL IT'S DRILLED INTO OUR SKULLS!!!! That if you plagerize, it's an automatic big FAT ZERO. I didn't EVEN wanna get into how it ALSO says next to that the law enforcement may be notified.
I asked her one more time what she was going to do about this. She said she would embaress them in front of the class and confront them about it. She would find a way to doc them (wasn't gonna repeat myself there), and then she would think of a way they can make restitution.
I was done trying to get this through to her. PLAGERISM IS ILLEGAL. How hard is that to understand??
All that trying to talk to her... I still have NO bloody clue what she intends to do about this.
Other than that, my day was great. Really it was ^_^;; Straight A's make everything okay again XD *dances*
