I'm having way too much fun.
It seems the general attitude among all voters is that everyone is very proud to vote today.
And I'm one of em now, baybeh!!
I got up at 5 am to vote today. Good thing too since lines are so damn crazy today. We only had to wait maybe 15 minutes. I had fun going with mom and dad and voting and then headin off for breakfast and then bragging to everyone at work about how I just voted in my first election ever.
My first graders did some awesome election stuff today. We sang the 43 presidents song a few times, did some vocabulary and word search puzzles, and read Duck for President. The kids voted today and we handed out coloring sheets of whichever president each student voted for. 3 went out for Obama. I ran out of McCain pages. This is why kiddies can't vote.
We did a sheet where kids could choose who would be in office with them if they were president. I am a very popular choice for vice president apparently.
We also handed out a sheet asking all the kids who they voted for. These two are my favorites, from a little boy and girl respectively. Complete with spelling errors:
"I vote for Muhcan becase my parints vote for him. Also my dads nam is John and that is cool. it dose not mater who wins becase i will be presdent next yeer anywa."
"I voted for Obama. Obama has a cool name. My dad lieks obama and my granma says that Sara Pane is a dum tart. Obama also wants to stop the bad fiting in irack. i think that is smarter then mccans ideyuh."
The kid who wrote the Obama paper has only half the spelling errors; coincidence?!?! ;)
And I about spit on my coke and died at "Sara Pane is a dum tart". I totally agree in a correctly-spelled manner.
I had lunch with little T and asked her who she is voting for. The answer was "OOOOOOOH". I'll take that as an "Ooooobama".
So the poll's closed 10 minutes ago on the east coast so HERE GOES!! This is really cool. I'm so lucky to be voting for the first time ever on possibly the most historic and important election of my lifetime. Woohoo!
Don't vote.
GET EDUCATED.
DON'T CHOOSE TO "IGNORE" THE VP WHO IS ONE 72 YEAR OLD'S HEARTBEAT FROM BECOMING THE PRESIDENT.
DON'T VOTE LIKE YOUR FRIENDS AND PARENTS.
BE A FREE THINKER.
BE SMART.
GIVE BOTH CANDIDATES A GOOD UNBIASED LOOK BASED ON ISSUES.
THEN vote.
